I have been teaching English for over twenty-five years, and I write on Hubpages on my spare time because I simply like to write and because I like to teach. 

Hubpages gives me a chance to disseminate information that I have gleaned over the years. 

I was also lucky to attend the Bread Loaf of English when I was in my twenties. A few special teachers there changed my teaching and philosophy of learning, and you will see a lot of these gems of wisdom when you read my hubs.

I have been running a tutoring business for the last two years, and in the process, I have learned a lot about the ACT and the SAT. When I meet a student for the first time, I usually tell him or her to make as many mistakes as possible because his or her mistakes are learning opportunities that tell me what I need to address. In school, you try to hide your mistakes, but when you work with me, I want to see them so that I can help you. This system must work because all of my students improve their standardized test scores after they have worked with me for a few sessions. 

I find that Hub Pages is a wonderful outlet for a confirmed and recovering "know-it-all."
